Details of JATL’s premier event, the Annual Professional Breakfast (APB), are now available under the events tab. The APB will be held on Friday 19 September 2008 at Customs House, though given this event has been sold out in previous years, be sure to get in early!

Just a reminder that tomorrow evening UQLS and JATL will be launching their alternative careers handbook, Alternative Routes to the Top. Entry is free, and attendees will not only be treated to a copy of the handbook, but also the opportunity to hear guest speakers from the Refugee and Immigration Legal Service, South Asian Human Rights Documentation Centre and governmental departments. Be sure to check the events tab for details!

This Wednesday, JATL will be hosting its Wigs at the Bar event at the Fox Hotel. Entry is $3 for non-members (and free for JATL members), with presentations by Kim Forrestor (barrister-at-law) and Michael Henry (associate to Justice Mullins of the Supreme Court of Queensland). Details of JATL's Kickstarting Careers Conference evening this Wednesday are now available under events. The evening’s highlights include:
- “Get Your Law in Order” - A presentation by legal profession guru Dr Francesca Bartlett
- “Your Career Starts Now” - A presentation by legal recruitment specialist Alex Correa
- Speed Networking - Think speed dating without courtship. This is a unique opportunity to ask recent and successful law graduates what steps they took as students to get them where they are today. And yes, there will be a bell.

At long last, the new JATL website is up and (partially) running! Over the next few days, additional features such as the website forums, profile pages and photo galleries will be implemented, so make sure to check the website regularly.
