For the first time ever, the UQ Justice and the Law Society and United Nations Student Association are teaming up to bring you our Introduction to International Affairs and Model UN! Curious to learn more about what the United Nations is and what it does? Eager to sharpen up your advocacy and diplomacy skills (not to mention supercharge your CV) by competing in Model UN competitions? This is the perfect event for you!
We have a great lineup of speakers arranged for you, including national and international-level Model UN competitors and an experienced Model UN coach. Our keynote speaker is Professor Anthony Cassimatis AM, who is the Director of the Centre for Public, International and Comparative Law at UQ. Professor Cassimatis was the chairperson of the Australian Red Cross' International Humanitarian Law Committee for Queensland from 2005-2018, and is the editor-in-chief of the Australian International Law Journal. You definitely don't want to miss this exclusive opportunity to hear his insights about international law and the role of the United Nations.
This is a free and beginner-friendly event, so come along on Sunday 9th March from 4pm-6:30pm for answers to all of your questions. Please register here to let us know if you will be coming along: https://campus.hellorubric.com/?eid=32049.
