Upcoming Events
On Wed 2nd April, the UQ Justice and the Law Society (JATL) is excited to be hosting a climate justice panel event featuring professionals working in the climate space. ๐๐ฑ
Our speakers will provide insight into the current climate crisis, how it is affecting Pacific Island and Torres Strait communities, the possibilities for reform, and what we can do to help. You will also find out where a career in environmental law can take you!
Our wonderful panellists are as follows:
Professor Justine Bell-James (professor of environmental law at the University of Queensland)
Dr Chris McGrath (barrister specialising in climate and environmental litigation in Australia and the Asian-Pacific)
Monica Taylor (Climate and Disaster Resilience project leader at Community Legal Centres Queensland)
Rhea Waia (climate activist, social worker and poet from the Torres Strait Islands)
The night will start with a panel discussion, and finish with an opportunity to network with the panelists to hear more about their passions and dedication to environmental and climate change law. There will be pizza provided for dinner and a chance to win a pot plant (generously donated by the Ross Evans Garden Centre) as a lucky door prize!
This event is free for all members and just $10 for non-members. Please register here to let us know if you will be joining us: https://campus.hellorubric.com/?eid=33209.
